Many parts of your microscope can be updated or replaced including microscope lamps, lenses, and eyepieces. Replacement lamps, light sources, and power cords can extend the working lives of your microscopy equipment. New or replacement objectives and lenses can help increase the total magnification available with your microscope.
Add greater magnification or exchange your eyepiece for one with a reticule to more easily estimate the sizes of the items being viewed.
Replace or update your mechanical stage or clamps or add cell culture vessel adapters to facilitate specimen positioning.
Condensers can also be replaced, and conversion kits are available to add phase contrast, polarization, fluorescence, or other capabilities to your current system.
Some microscopes can be adapted for use with still or video cameras. Look for cameras and adapters designed for your specific microscope brand. Film and documentation-related products may also be available to support your record-keeping.
Temporary, semi-permanent, and more long-term slide storage options include:
- Slide racks that securely hold slides during staining procedures
- Folding fiberboard or plastic slide holders with horizontal indentations that keep microscope slides in place
- Slide storage boxes with vertical dividers; made from fiberboard, plastic, and wood and available in multiple sizes
- Slide holders and mailers for transporting slides safely
- Slide storage systems and cabinets for large quantities of slides or archival storage
Electron Microscopy Sciences Crystallography MicroTool Kit 2, 20 Tools
These patent-pending MicroTools have tips used for protein crystals, single cells and manipulating small samples are made from soft, flexible microfabricated polymer films. The curvature of the tips gives them rigidity, but they can still easily be flexed. Tools designed for use with samples from a few micrometers to millimeter in size. These tools will cause far less damage to fragile samples than metal tools, and they are optically and x-ray transparent. Each tool is mounted on a 0.025"/0.64 mm diameter non-magnetic stainless steel base. The base is fitted in a handle 0.7 mm diameter, included in each kit. 20 micro tools for sample manipulating and measurements. The sample tools in this kit are 15 um thick. Includes MicroSpoon, microchisel, MicroLasso, MicroSieve, MicroTip, MicroRuler and two MicroSaws.

Electron Microscopy Sciences Microscope Graticule NE1 Horizontal, 25 mm, 10 mm with 0.1 mm subdivisions
These scales are used for the measuring of lengths of specimen or distances between points on a variety of different shaped objects. By dividing the division of the chosen graticule by the magnification of the objective one obtains an approximate value that each division will represent on the stage. Horizontal micrometer scale.

C-flat is an ultra-flat, holey carbon-coated support grid for transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Unlike competing holey carbon films, C-flat is manufactured without plastics, so it is clean upon arrival and the user has no residue to contend with. Made with patent pending technology, C-flat provides an ultra-flat surface that results in better particle dispersion and more uniform ice thickness.
Patterning is done using deep-UV projection lithography, ensuring the most accurate and consistent hole shapes and sizes down to submicron features. The precise methods by which C-flat is manufactured elminate artifacts such as excess carbon and edges around holes.

Electron Microscopy Sciences TEM Specimen Grinder Model 160
The Model 160 Specimen Grinder is an accurate and dependable tool for mechanically prethinning specimens in preparation for transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It greatly reduces the time spent during the final preparation process of ion beam milling. The grinder accommodates up to 18 mm diameter specimens.
A graduated scale allows the specimen thickness to be easily and precisely controlled. The large diameter provides excellent stability. Specimens with uniform thickness and parallel sides are consistently produced because of the precise fit of the specimen platen into the grinder body. The grinder is heavy enough to provide sufficient grinding force on the specimen. The platen is transferable to the Model 200 Dimpling Grinder.

CoverWell Perfusion Chambers allows up to 16 different specimens on one coverglass. "Press-to-Seal" covers form water-tight, multiwall cell incubation or cytochemistry chamber when pressed to coverslips or microscope slides. Reagents can be quickly added and removed through dual access ports (1.5 mm Dia) without disturbing or cross-contaminating specimens in adjacent wells. Chambers are removable for permanent mounting of specimens. CoverWell chambers are made from medical grade silicone bonded to clear, UV transparent plastic.

Electron Microscopy Sciences MicroMounts™ Crystal Tool with 75 µm Aperture and 25 mm pin
MicroMounts are the high performance tools for manipulating and mounting protein crystals, virus crystals, and small molecule/inorganic crystals, and other small, fragile samples. They are ideal for both conventional and high-throughput X-ray crystallography applications.
Each consist of a thin (7.5um thick) micro-fabricated polyimide film, attached to a solid non-magnetic stainless steel pin. Film is wrapped around the steel pin and it provides excellent stiffness and convenient scoop-like action in retrieving and handling crystals.

World Precision Instrument Bridge8 Transducer Amplifier Module
Low noise transducer amplifier in a modular system
Bridge8 is a modular, rack-mountable amplifier system. It is specifically designed for use as a signal conditioning amplifier with strain gages and other poered transducers. Bridge8 includes differential amplifiers featuring high input impedance, high common mode rejection and low current leakage input terminals for low noise operation. The Bridge8 also features a half bridge switch and channel offset. A wide variety of WPI transducers are available for force, temperature, pressure and light measurements. The Bridge8 amplifier is a clear choice for convenience and quality.
Any combination of ISO-DAM8 or Bridge8 modules may be combined in the same enclosure. The ISO-DAM8A module is also available in this rack configuration.
